The Mobile Passport App is an essential tool in any international traveler’s phone - or, it should be.
So why don’t more people know about it?
Here’s the low-down. First, go to the App Store and download it immediately!
So, what is Mobile Passport, exactly? Mobile Passport is an app that replaces the customs forms that you are always annoyed by (no more asking to borrow your seatmate’s pen!).
You’ll upload a selfie, input some basic traveler information, and then answer the typical questions about your trip that you’ve always had on your forms. Fill in your airline and date/time of arrival, and you can simply tap a button to complete the application when you land!
Head on over to the Custom and Border Protection (CBP) signs and skip the lines. Simply show your passport to the CBP officer and scan the barcode, and you’re through.
At the moment, it is only in select airports (click here to view the list), but will be rolled out as more airports hop on board. Anecdotally, I’ve been able to breeze through Miami in less than three minutes, which is insane if you’ve ever flown into Miami!
Mobile Passport is not the same as Global Entry, however. For frequent international travelers, Global Entry is well-worth the $100.
But if you’re looking for a simple, free solution to shave time off of the cumbersome process of coming home, you’ll love Mobile Passport!
